Vladimir Yefimov (1949-2012) was a great deal more than a designer of type faces. Beyond creating new fonts he also wrote articles, spoke at professional conferences (and was active in the organizations that sponsored them), organized, with his colleagues, international typographic competitions, taught and trained students and translated and edited books. He helped lay the foundations of the new Russian typography. But he always considered himself, first and foremost, a designer of type
